We’ve attended countless trade shows, events, and conferences. One thing that always stood out was the overwhelming amount of plastic merchandise being handed out, offering little to no value to either the brand or the recipient.
A staggering 80% of this merchandise is made of plastic, with the classic promotional pen being the most popular choice.
Driven by this observation, we set out to create a better alternative: an eco-friendly pen infused with seeds. It’s a functional writing tool that’s also sustainable, making it a genuine replacement for traditional plastic pens.

Crafted from recycled kraft paper tubes, these pens feature seed-filled caps. So, instead of tossing it when you’re done writing, simply plant it and watch it grow.
And when the ink runs out, you can easily recycle both the BIC refill and the paper tube.

Like all of our corporate gifts, our seed pens can be customized. For these pens, we use a kraft or white paper blister pack.
Our clients often create a design with their logo, slogan, and campaign image. Of course, we always recommend including our planting instructions in the customisation.

An eco-friendly pen with plantable seeds that is 100% recyclable
How can we recycle our eco-friendly pen with seeds
Our seed pen is made with a 6mm diameter paper tube, double-reinforced to ensure adequate rigidity.
The material used is brown recycled kraft paper, which can also be customised with a screen-printed logo.
Inside the paper tube is a BIC ballpoint refill. We have joined the refill with the body in such a way that it can be easily separated and recycled after use.
Finally, the pen cap is handcrafted from the same material and has the unique feature of containing a capsule with seeds inside so that it can be planted entirely, as all materials are biodegradable.
Once the pen ink is finished or you simply don’t want to use the cap anymore, you can plant it and a plant will grow from the seed you have chosen.

You can choose between two types of seeds:

- Mustard, a Mediterranean plant with yellow flowers.
Both seeds are integrated into the pen’s cap, inside a biodegradable capsule.
How do you correctly plant the seed pen for the plants to grow?
It’s very simple:
1. Insert the pen’s cap into a pot with soil.
2. Place it in a spot with indirect light.
3. Water it daily.
In about a week, you’ll start to see your plant sprout. It’s the most original way to give a pen a second life!
How long does it take for a plant from the plantable pen to germinate?
The seeds usually germinate in approximately one week, provided they receive adequate light, moisture, and temperature.
What sustainable materials are used in the manufacture of the eco-friendly pen?
